Prof. Fernando Bouza at Berkeley

Fernando Bouza is Professor at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid.

Professor Bouza will stay in Berkeley for two weeks. He will give a series of lectures-seminars under the title "Corre Manuscrito", about the role of the manuscript during the era of the printing press. Below you will find the schedule. Download the materials for the lectures.

He will also give a lecture on the political uses of manuscript letters "A Letter Happened".

Bouza, 'Communication, Knowledge, and Power'Professor Bouza is the author of books and articles on Early Modern History of Book and Reading, and actually one of the main theorists on this subject in Europe. He has been visiting professor all over the world, and, in the USA, at the University of Pennsylvania and at Johns Hopkins University among others. He has published extensively in Spanish, French, and Portuguese, and his books are now being translated in English. Communication, Knlowledge and Memory has been published by Penssylvania University Press (with a foreword by Roger Chartier), and Cambridge University Press is about to release one of his last works.
