SepHeather Bamford on Albrecht Dürer’s Self-portrait with hand and Pillow

Albrecht's Dürer's self-portrait hangs on the walls of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It's a sketch, a study on how to paint himself -a subject, actually, that passionated Dürer, and made him invent a painter's new autobiographical pact. Here are some of the pictures (only studies, as well) of Heather's interpretation (and mine) of this pact.
These pictures have been simply shot against a white background, with two photofloods and one hour and a half of intense work. And that's more or less it. Everything else will come later on.

Me gustan mucho estas cuatro fotos. La segunda es sin duda la más dinámica. Sin embargo, la que más me gusta es la primera, creo que por el encuadre, por la mirada tan fija (y difícil de interpretar) y por la pose. No hay nada espontáneo y tal vez sea eso lo que más me atrae.
Todas tienen alguna expresión “heatheriana” y dicen mucho de ella, supongo, en relación con el cuadro. Lo sorprendente para mi no deja de ser esta predominancia del fondo blanco y la manera en que la camiseta de funde en él (a pesar de que, eso sí, estoy de acuerdo, no han desaparecido los contornos). Da a las fotos un tono de dibujo, una suavidad que recuerda el estudio de Durero. ¡Está muy logrado!
